Article: My Blogathon Donations Beneficiary

I have decided that my blogathon beneficiary would be Eden Handicap Service Center. Earlier this month, I paid Eden a visit at their branches in Penang Island. I must say that I was overwhelmed by Eden’s mission.

It was started in 1991 with a simple concept: to help the disabled come to terms with their disabilities, to engage them in fellowship with other disabled and able-bodied friends, and to provide adequate training to place them in suitable jobs.

In Eden, the atmosphere is serene with many disabled people going about their chores. There is no hatred, no misunderstandings, no hurt… just kindness. Eden voluntarily trains the disabled people who sought help from them, with special skills in order to be independant in society. They are also provided lodging and meals for free. In the children’s hostel, there are a bunch of kids ranging from age 2 to 18. Some are adopted by the founders of Eden while some are sent here by working parents. Those with parents go home during the weekends and school holidays. At the hostel, the children are given free physiotherapy, routine check-up with doctors, educational support and activities. Eden makes sure that every child is educated by sending them to school and helping them academically. They hope that the children will grow up to be independant individuals.

I regret not owning a camera or I will have pictures to show here. But nevertheless, I hope that I would be able to raise some money for Eden. Please support my initiative by sponsoring me in Blogathon!
