The Power Of Love

I don’t feel like writing this, but I want to keep well wishers informed about my health status. My hearing dropped from 50% to a mere 5% since Friday. I didn’t wake up in time for a hearing test this morning, so I’ll have to do that tomorrow. I hope the hospital won’t be packed.

Everytime this happens, I regret not being diligent enough to master sign language. It’s been about 6 months since I got the book, but I can barely remember 10 signs so far. This computer age is to be blamed. If it wasn’t for internet, I’d be hitting the books more often.

Ziling got some friends over to pray for me today. In fact, they’re still around while I’m writing this, I excused myself while they chat with my father. If only I can communicate without the needs of paper and pen, because they seem very friendly and caring. Among them is a guy named Eric who used to have a brain tumor. He said that his tumor dissappeared after three years of continuous prayer. I’m on the fence about this, because logically and scientifically, how can a tumor just dissappear for no reason? But the guy who claimed so was standing right before me. I wish that I could have known better, and not just nod my head in amazement. He looked genuine but I’m only a believer in things that I’ve experienced for myself.

That’s the bad thing about being over realistic. There is little room for dreams and extreme desire. I just take whatever comes without hoping for miracles to happen.

But nevertheless, these people have reached into my heart and touched me deeply. The nine of them are complete strangers, yet they are so concerned about my wellbeing. I must say that majority of christians are more extroverted than many of other religions, in caring for other people who needs help. Maybe christians are more outreaching in attitude, but this doesn’t mean that other religions don’t care. If my tumors ever dissappear because of their prayer, I would say that it resulted from their power of love.

Perhaps, when one is unhealthy, he’ll be able to see goodness in everything. And that’s an upperhand that God has given me along with my illness.

    Dear Yvonne,

I know what you mean about being a realistic and believing only in what you’ve experienced. But who’s to say what is and what isn’t, what can and what can’t, etc.

I used to have the perspective on life but if modern medicine can’t cure your NF2 and my husband’s cancer, what’s there to lose in trying other alternatives especially if it doesn’t cost you a single cent nor any time or effort on your part.

It’s been 6 mths since my husband got sick and during this time I’ve met people who claimed to be completely cured of their terminal illnesses (tumours, cancer, etc) because of their faith in God. Of course they also underwent medical treatment but in most cases their Drs had already warned them to be prepared for the …..

So who’s to say miracles can’t happen to you?! :)

    Take care.

    Chris

Hello Christine. You are absolutely right. I have nothing to loose in trying other alternatives. That is why I chose to accept prayers from all religions. Because I believe in the energy of thoughts. The act of praying is a kind of thought that vibrates energy through the universe, that may force things to change. Well, I don’t know how to explain but this is something I chose to believe in. New age thinking.. haha! Thanks for your concern.

hi, had to write after i read this. i too, believe in the powers in prayer and i have read that some well repected research hospitals here are doing studies on it. it seems so far, that the religion of the person doing the praying for the patient, or the patient’s religion or lack thereof doesn’t matter at all. somehow that it is(for lack of a better term, and i was a teenager in the 60′s)the good vibes that help! they even helped patients that weren’t told they were being prayed for and those that were just sent good healing thoughts by athiests.

most christians that are strong in their belief in miracles and prayer are fundamentalist christians.

me, i’ll send you good vibes! be well.

the book is called,”reinventing medicine” beyond mind-body to a new era of healing, by dr. larry dossey it is a highly recommended book.

“You can rid yourself of any illness when you realize that you create and draw such illness to yourself. What you fear most, you draw to yourselves. Now, if you decide to leave this world, that is your right; go in joy and vitality, but go because you know you decided to leave, and not as a victim of a disease that has been given a name.

On the other hand if you decide you want to continue to live, and then live in your full glory and strength. If you decide to live, then tell yourself you WANT to live and know the reasons, and your body will repair itself in joy and glory. You are not a victim!

While such situations as illness are chosen by the personality, the individual is always left to work out its own solution. Complete recovery, illness, or early death is not preordained on the part of the entity [or whole self].

The general situation is set up in response to deep inner involvements. The problem is a challenge set up by the entity for one of its own personalities, but the outcome is up to the personality involved. One does not choose illness per se for a lifetime situation. “

    How interesting, multidimid.

I’m impressed by such profound pronouncements expressed by your blog readers, particularly those tinged with such religious fervour. I don’t have any wise advice to impart except to tell you that for a girl of 19, you have shown bravery and maturity of people many, many years older than you and your ability not only to cope with your illness but at the same time also to help others in the same predicament is admirable. I am nearly 3 scores and ten and I doubt whether I would be able to garner such courage and spirit faced with the same predicament.
    Regards.

Hello again. I know it’s not easy to believe how a tumour can disappear after three years of prayers. For Christians, we call it God’s miracle. We do believe nothing is impossible for God. And God hears our prayers.

Believing without seeing takes faith. I know it’s easy to doubt what we cannot see. Science teaches us to observe, make implications, draw conclusions based on evidence. But it is faith that gives us hope.

God has a plan for us all. And it’s a good one. Trust in that.

    With Christ’s love, Angel
