HEART4HOPE At Passion Club

March 22nd, 2006 by Yvonne

Since the launch of HEART4HOPE last December, this project has brought me much experiences that I had never encountered before. Yesterday was another new experience. I found myself in a night club! Yes, as old as I may be, I had never been to night clubs before. Believe it or not.

So when Weng Lum brought up the idea of me attending a fashion show that started at 8:45pm at Passion Club, I hesitated, because I was never known to be one who goes out at night.

But yesterday was different. Cheryl and I made a trip to Kuala Lumpur to attend a fashion show in Passion Club, organised by SIFE of the University of Nottingham.

Members of the SIFE were kind enough to help promote my cause by inviting me to give a speech at the event. I said quite a bit that lasted for about 2 to 3 minutes.

Half-way through the speech, two stunning models appeared from behind wearing my t-shirt, and walked down the runway as i continued to blabber away. They walked in such breeze, so professional.

Besides HEART4HOPE, the show was also to promote 4 other brands. Very colorful clothes, but we couldn’t take any nice pictures when everything happened so quickly. To find a good location to shoot pictures was difficult enough due to the ill-balanced lighting. But that’s what night clubs are all about.

I had to leave home at 6pm, so there was no time for dinner. I had hoped that Passion Club will be serving food enough to call it a meal. But what they gave me were these spring rolls, or whatever you call it.

Now, what was there for the avid photographer, Cheryl Leong? Why, take pictures, ofcourse! Lucky for her, there was the vainpot Yvonne, influenced by Sam, Dan, and Sarah. Blame it all on them!

We took quite a lot of pictures of me, posing here and there. But I’m not about to selfishly make you squirm with disgust, so I shall show you around Passion Club instead.

The fashion show was held upstairs, where the best seats are located in my opinion. As you walk up a flight of stairs that makes you fall off with one wrong step, you’re led down this corridor-like space, that has some seats on both sides, plus a bar on the left. That’s how it looks like in the picture above.

And then there’s this corner, which I can’t make out where it is in the picture. But nice colors nevertheless. heehee… You see, Cheryl and I arrived there earlier to attend the press conference, so we could take pictures of the venue without people standing about.

As for this, my favourite place to sit because of its height. We had to step up a plank to rest our bums there. Maybe I liked because I’m always shorter than other people. We didn’t sit there for long though, because we couldn’t see the stage from there.

That’s me sitting on the high seat. Heehee!

Cheryl and I left before the event ended, so that we could catch the last train home. On the way back, Weng Lum messaged me to say that the shirts were a sell out! That’s good news, isn’t it? Nottingham go!

I would love to attend more of these. *grin*
