Segi College a huge encouragement

The gang at Segi, KL

Technorati is always good whenever I feel sad and hopeless. A click of the mouse would reveal a list of websites and blogs that have recently featured me. Once in every two days, I would find someone new writing nicely about me that make my heart fizzle and melt on the inside.

They celebrated my birthday after I gave a speech!

I know this might make me sound like a vainpot craving for attention, but who doesn’t? In my case, I need these encouragements very much. People don’t say I am sexy or famous, because I’m not and there are plentiful of celebrities out there to idolize. It is kindness and charity that make these people find time amidst busy schedules to write something about this unknown Malaysian.

Thank you everyone who has written about me. Your contribution echoes in eternity.

Dickson Hiew reported today that the team at Segi College, KL have managed to raise RM6,000 for my cause in less than a month, and there will be another RM5,000 to come. These are a bunch of initiative teenagers who e-mailed me one fine day and invited me to speak at their college. They have taken from me a total of over 400 t-shirts to sell on campus and the response is superb. They even placed my photographs all over their MSN and friendster profiles.

Dickson: If people don’t listen, you use pasar malam style, ok?

But things are not always smooth sailing for them. Dickson told me this evening that, “some people listened, while some saw us as though they were seing ghosts!…if only they would just stop and take interest”.

He also added that this project has taught him a lot of things that can never be learned from books.

Dickson and friends, you guys deserve the invaluable lesson God has given to you, because you took the first step in lending a hand to charity.

I’m really proud of these people. I almost cried when Dickson told me how much he has learned, because he indirectly told me that all our efforts are worthwhile. My initial hardwork in kickstarting this project is paying off. I’m touching the youths, changing the world day by day.

There are many more such people out there helping me in large scales. I shall write about each of them in future posts. This is what life is to me - encouraging each other to reach for the sky.
