Article: We need sponsors to blog for charity
It’s that time of the year again for BLOGATHON, a worldwide 24-hour blogging event to raise funds for charity. Last year, John Ling, Tan Yi Liang, and I managed to raise more than RM1500 for Eden handicap Service Center. Last year’s blogposts are still up for reads here.
That was a big success and we’ve decided to do it again! It’s for charity after all. This time, the team comprises of John Ling, Charmaine Hon, and I. (we don’t mind having additional bloggers tho. Are you interested?
We are blogging for Eden Handicap Service Center. Here is an e-mail from Madelen Tye, the managing director of Eden.
Hi Yvonne !
Would like to apologise for not keeping in touch with you. Lately, I have been rather very busy with my hospital work as well as Eden. Eden has no one doing the fund raising and I have to put in extra effort to bring forth the work of Eden to the public.
Anyway, thank you for your thoughtfullness and love for the centre. I am very touched by your kind and caring gesture.
Just to keep you abreast with the activities of Eden.
Many less fortunate children has been knocking our door for help as we are the only centre that provides hostel/day care service to children at no charge. Whereas other centre that provide only day care to the disabled children are charging about RM450.00. From here we notice that only those that can afford will enjoy their training but what about those who cannot afford.
The total number of mentally challenged male adult and children in our hostel has escalated to about 45. The overall total of disabled friends in our centre has reached 85 excluding adhoc services provided to the less fortunate in the community.

We need YOU to help us out
Blogathon won’t succeed without sponsors. In this event, we make the effort to blog once in every 30 minutes for 24 hours straight on 29th July 2006, starting from 9pm Malaysian Time (2100hr EST).
What you can do is, pledge an hourly amount and the total will the calculated and sent to your e-mail when blogathon ends, OR pledge a lump sum for our efforts!
At the end of the event, an e-mail will be sent to your e-mail with your total pledged sponsorship and the details where the money may be sent. Sponsors will send the money directly to Eden. This is to ensure legitimacy. We don’t handle the money at all.
After the event, you may choose to donate by writing a cheque, buy postal orders, or walk-in to Eden personally. Bertie and Madelene Tye are very nice people!

You may pledge any amount according to your budget, but the more the better!

I have seen how you guys do it last year, 8 hours of blogging for each person, and yeah, I’d love to join you “the team” this year because I don’t think I can do it for 24-straigh-hours (because my bf doesn’t know that I blog), muahahah =)
