Article: The books I read
Pelf says…
I am a bookworm. I like to read. From newspapers to magazines to (auto)biographies.. Yea, that’s what I’d like to blog about - the (auto)biographies that I have read. And since I do not have enough time to review any of the books, I will just give you a rough idea of what I think of them =)
One of the earliest autobiographies I landed my hands on was written by Hillary Rodham Clinton. It was very well written and it gave me the impression that Hillary actually kept notes of speeches that she made as a student. I mean, who actually keeps notes of the primary school speeches?!
Then I read the biography of Mahatma Gandhi. As soon as I have finished reading this, I felt that I have sinned too much. No good, no good *shakes head* But it was a very well written book nonetheless..
Then I read Nien Cheng’s Life and Death in Shanghai, where she documented the times before the Chinese Cultural Revolution and how her house was looted and how she was made to confess that she was a spy for the previous employer, Shell. She was put in the solitary confinement for 6.5 years and upon release, found out that her only daughter had been beaten to death.
The recent book that I read was the Memoirs of a Geisha. It was.. Awesome. Very beautifully coined and documented the life of a young geisha the moment she was chosen to be one..
(And if you noticed, my writings have become very incoherent because I AM VERY SLEEPY and I need to get some sleep. Email me if you want to hear from me again, who knows, I might be back)
Good night, peeps.. There you go, Jess =)
