Yvonne Foong: Fighting NF

Two months ago, the kind hearted Kenny Sia with giant balls received an e-mail from a fellow blogger asking for help with publicity. Her name was YC , a young and beautiful interior architect. Kenny helped engineer a throng of bidders for dresses which she placed up for auction in aid of Johor flood victims. In the end, YC managed to raise more than RM1k to help save the wreckage down south.

Since there wasn’t much i could do for the poor Johorians, I was quick to help spread the word on my blog as well. Somehow or rather, YC found her way here and guess what?

She decided to sponsor some dresses for my fundraising! *crazy Yvonne jumps in excitement*

I told Cheryl about it, who was surprised. She sheepishly admitted her secret admiration for YC which has been taking shape since two years ago! Wah lau, that girl. She reads YC’s blog like the bible.

Gradually, I got to know YC more through MSN, SMS, and face-to-face meetings. I began reading her blog, observing her work, the only thing I haven’t done is stalking her.

Hmmm… Cheryl’s got a point leh.

WHO IS YUE CHIN?

Blackjettas Design is an independent multi-disciplinary design studio founded in 2004 in Melbourne by YC. The studio spans the diverse industries of interior, product+furniture, retail, graphic, environment, fashion and lifestyle design consultancy, art direct, and illustration.

In the end of 2004, Blackjettas Design produced a collection of delightful handmade adornments of jewelries, accessories and apparel out of a yearning to create beautiful and intriguing design products that are a reflection of the user. In a world of mass production and factory run lines, Blackjettas Design isn’t about making huge quantities of goods but rather limited editions and on-offs designs.

Relocating from Melbourne to Kuala Lumpur, YC currently works with Axis Design Network Consultants as an interior architect. Due to her full time work commitment, Blackjettas Design studio will only provide free-lance design consultancy to selective jobs and all production of design products under the banner of Blackjettas Design will be downsized.

Four handmade dresses by Blackjettas Design will soon be up for auction on Ebay. During the month-long charity auction, a new dress will be up for bidding each week.

The charity auction will span from March 22 to April 22, 2007. All biddings will be conducted on Ebay, making worldwide participation possible. Winning bidders will have the option of paying by Paypal which has credit card facilities. Dresses may be shipped worldwide.

I NEED TO HAVE A LOOK AT THE DRESSES

No problem. Dresses by Blackjettas Design and Heart4Hope t-shirts will be featured on the catwalk during PULSE, a charity fashion show organised by Students of Free Enterprise (SIFE) of University of Nottingham, Malaysia Campus.

Venue: Zouk Club, Kuala Lumpur
Date: 22nd March 2007
Time: 7:30pm - 11pm. There will be an after party.
Entrance Fee: RM30 at the door
Minimum age for entry: 19 (special age requirement for the fashion show)

Earnings from the collection of entrance fee will be channeled to another charity organisation after organiser’s costs are deducted.

I will personally attend and give a short speech at the fashion show. Others I know confirmed attending are Cheryl Leong, Jun Kit, Josh Lim & Associate, Kid Chan, YC and her company. This will be a good time to purchase my book at the club and get my autograph.
