Understand your blog readers

Auto Date Saturday, April 28th, 2007

Have you checked your Advertlets Demographic data? I just did, and here’s what I learned about my readers.

1. They are mostly 18-25 years. Most are college students
.
Unlikely to afford expensive clothes and jewelries

2. More bloggers than non-bloggers.
well at least there’s a balance

3. Most prefer to buy t-shirts from me, followed by books, women’s accessories, and dresses. In that order.

Gee, I thought t-shirts are everywhere

4. I have more female readers.
Factor to start selling facial cosmetics online.

5. Surprise surprise! Most prefer I write about my daily life and rants, over social issues, political opinions, book reviews, and everything else.
And I thought my life was uninteresting. Since so few leave comments, but so many readers.

Thank you Advertlets for helping me know my readers better! Eh friends, comment more lar.

Check out Tremayne’s latest post. The fella’s library of general knowledge is one funny bone.

For instance, probably the lowest of titles is Dato’ or sometimes spelt Datuk - this depends on how the title was achieved.. If the title was awarded by making annual contributions to the state, it is a Datuk.. If the title was awarded due to service to the state, it is a Dato’.

So it should be DATO’ Michelle Yeoh. Not DATUK.

Sod’s Law

I have a General Psychology test at 5pm today, and I’m down with fever. Now that being my favourite subject, am I jinxed or what?!?!

But there’s this book that says fever is the body’s way of detoxifying, expelling toxins and other unhealthy chemicals. Maybe it’s a good sign. Melilea Organic cleaning out my body. Even my poops changed to become big hard lumps that leave no trail. I get to save on toilet paper, heh.

I’m planning to sign up with Environmental Chemistry class in Summer. No, Biology not offered. :( And then, maybe Business Law and Sociology too. Let’s see what Dr. Chin says.

Update
Oh! Biology is offered! woohoo!

My current diet involves high fiber, low carbohydrate

Yum! These are the stuffs that I eat on a daily basis. Melilea Organic Greenfield 3 cups a day. Salad with salmon bits once a day.

I also take soya bean milk, Marigold non-fat yogurt, Quaker oatmeal, whole grain cereal, fruits, Anlene milk, and spirulina cereal drink as snacks. Not all at once, ofcourse. Maybe just one or two of these a day. Oh, and a lot of plain water.

I started consuming Melilea Greenfield three times a day since 8th April 2007. No weighing machine at home, so can do no diet sales pitch. heh… But one thing to note is that Melilea Greenfield won the Superbrands award. It’s good for digestion and provides your body all the primary nutrients it need to live healthily. Mom bought it for me once more than 5 years ago. This time, I got acquainted to it again through April.

Until today I’m still not quite sure what is her profession but she’s in the sales department of the company, knows about biology, drugs and medicines, so she is qualified to advise me on which dietary supplements worth buying. I’ve told her about many products that blog visitors introduced to me. April said all of them were overpriced and unnecessary, except this one. That’s what friends are for. KeKeKe…

Melilea Organic Greenfield costs RM198 for a 16oz bottle that lasts up to one month.

Thank you everybody who came! Yvonne Foong’s Book Launch 2007

Auto Date Monday, April 23rd, 2007

The grand book launch held at Popular Bookstore, Ikano Power Center, last Saturday was a HUGE SUCCESS! I feel most blessed and honored to receive the support of so many people. Many of them I did not even recognise, sacrificed a beautiful weekend afternoon to support me! Life is worth living because of them, and I’m not kidding. We often hear people saying how grateful they are. I say it very often too. But in such situations like my book launch, that sense of gratitude is so great, it’s overpowering.

YB Loh, Josh Lim, and my buddy Cordelia each gave a speech. Josh demonstrated a slide presentation of my website and Advertlets. 10 lucky winners of the Pop Quiz session happily brought home movie collectibles, and our goody bags were simply awesome! After the launch, we headed off to Starbucks for free drinks!

Special thanks to the following parties for making my book launch a big success!

Cinema Online” for the magazines and movie collectible hampers.
Segi College for plastic bags and pens.
Popular Bookstore for making venue preparations and coordinating.
Notes from venus for notepads and roping in sponsors.
Yoga Zone for vouchers.
Marigold for cartons of packet drinks
Starbucks Coffee for beverage vouchers.
Adverlets for stickers.

Also special thanks to: PR liasion Cordelia Lee, Emcee Pinky Khoo, Photographer Cheryl Lepng, YellowPost writer Hezreen, Registration coordinator Rebecca, Designer Jun Kit, Popular Bookstore Liason Wei Sim, Starbucks Liason Emmelyn Chan… to be continued when I recall more.

THANK YOU YANG BERHORMAT LOH SENG KOK FOR OFFICIATING THE EVENT! Sorry have to shout big big in case he misses this.

Let’s give a round of applause to talented Yue Chin for the beautiful hand sewn dresses!

Next round, I’ll be auctioning 10 pieces of handmade jewelries specially sponsored by someone in Melbourne, Australia. It means, the accessories beat against all odds via airmail and arrived on Malaysian soil for a good cause!

Had just bought my air ticket to US, and will soon have to clear up some bills at Assunta Hospital and St. Vincent Medical Center. So, please don’t be alarmed when the amount reduces yeah? I’m mentioning this to avoid any misunderstanding.

Let’s go support local theaterical arts!

screwed.jpg

Ever complained that musical and theatre productions in Malaysia are always too expensive for the average working class? Even the heavily subsidized MPO tickets cost at least RM30 - RM80 for a full scale orchestra. Our purchasing power is so weak and the general minimum wage so low, not everyone can afford the arts on a regular basis.

This reality has lead to the formation of THE ORAL STAGE. Comprising of passionate and artistic young adults, TAS is dedicated to arts empowerment through education, events and performances.

This weekend, TAS will be staging “Screwed” at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre. I have been kindly invited, and when I expressed my concern about my inability to hear well, TAS has agreed to release the scripts to me in advance. THAT IS the level of dedication that they possess. Therefore, I strongly encourage my readers to go support this group of young enthusiasts. Help keep their mission going by purchasing the tickets for yourself, or as gifts. Only RM27 per ticket.

It’s not every day we get selfless artists like them. So please support!

“I cannot stress how important your support is to the youth theatre scene.” - Elza Irdalynna

SCREWED
by The Oral Stage

The Oral Stage enters its fourth season with an all-new line-up of original shorts and monologues, a contemporary take on the timeless issues of identity, gender, relationships, meaning and purpose. Screwed reinforces the fact that being human is nothing short of being screwed, after all.

Now in its third year, TOS is housed by The Dram Projects studio in Petaling Jaya and is supported by the arts community. Its members comprise of young, aspiring youth from all walks of life who band together to prove that arts is, for everyone. We’re nowhere near defunct just yet.

This season’s ensemble stars Waimin Lee, Emily Yoon, Doreen Loo, Gary Ooi , Branavan Aruljothi, Christine Ellis, Prakash Gopalakrishnan, Lam Wai Yee, Batsheba Zlikha Arsalan, Erin Victor, Nick Davis, Rachel Lai MS and Elza Irdalynna . Directed by Kelvin Wong and produced by Christine Ellis.

Pieces written by Joyce Hooi, Gary Ooi, Davina Goh, Priya K., Gavin Yap , Patricia Low, Doreen Loo, Kelvin Wong and Rauf Fadzilla.
