Private: First fundraising for Dad
November 16th, 2007 by Yvonne
This auction is to raise funds for my father’s cataract surgery. His name is Foong Kok Kee, 66, an unemployed and uninsured patient who suffered brain trauma years ago.
Having consulted two doctors at different hospitals, we figured his cataracts are safely removable. Of the choices we deliberated, we decided to go with Ophthalmologist Dr. Dunsten Fernandez in Petaling Jaya. His clinic is offering us the most affordable choice considering our circumstances.
My mother has a day job, 8 hours a day, 6 days a week. The last thing I want is for her to worry further. And as everyone knows, I am struggling with a rare genetic disorder, that weakened me significantly over the years. Mom and I sometimes find it hard to cope with dad’s progressive senility. Therefore, our decision is the best considering the amount of stress and inconvenience would be incurred should we seek further for cheaper alternatives. Even when we do try, Dad’s condition continues to worsen everyday, making it very dangerous for him to move around.
When coming back from the hospital today, I asked Dad if he wants to go to another hospital. At first he agreed. But then he broke down in tears and frustration. He must be terribly afraid of the whole thing, seeking second opinions is tormenting him..
With his cataract removed, Dad would be able to drive me to college everyday.
We need RM4,000+ to remove Dad’s Cataracts from both eyes.
That is RM2,000 per eye.
Thank you. Please bid and help me care for Dad. Auction ends on Nov 21, 2007.

those pieces are nice… but instead of having only 3 pieces, and having to bid, why don’t make them more and you can sell more and earn more…

Hi Yvonne, don’t know if you still remembered me, and can’t blame you, I haven’t checked your blog in a long time too. Anyway, I just read about your dad’s condition and your recent updates on your conditions too. I really would love to help out but considering I’m still living on my parent’s expenses, my hands are tied.
You know what though? I will pray for the both of you, hopefully your dreams come true, your goals meet with great success and your healths return!
Check out my blog if you’ve got time, I just started a week ago and it’s still looking a little plain.
