Article: Let’s just shoot them
The things that some Malaysian doctors can do to protect their interest never fail to amaze me. In trying to dissuade a patient from seeking treatment abroad, a doctor may go to the extend of commenting on the supposedly high financial cost, the patient’s age and vulnerability, and uncertainties.
In sum, such doctors would attack the patient’s weaknesses.
In contrary, Dr. Lekovic and Dr. Friedman would never know how much a surgey will cost and will rest the responsibility of finding out onto their assistants.
They would never hesitate to ask for help from other doctors when they are uncertain about something. I had been referred and sought a second opinion from Dr. Fukushima, Dr. Kondziolka, and Dr. Huang. Dr. Lekovic was also interested to hear what Dr. Leoffler had to say about my Gamma Knife concerns, and he was open to the knowledge that I had communicated with Dr. Spetzler about the Trigone meningioma surgical technique.
These doctors work at different hospitals all over the United States. None of them had ever formed conclusions on the basis of my financial background or my age. They were focused on considering the best course of treatment for me.
It’s really sad and frustrating when doctors pull the subject of money and personal background into the discussion when all a distraught NF patient wants, is to know whether the doctor in question has the ability to treat. Bring money and all that make the patient insecure, is adding salt to wound.
I think they should be shot.

OMG Yvonne…
I can’t help but agreed with you bout the whole Malaysian Medical services thingy….. is rather rather sad and pathetic here….
One of the reasons that drive me to leave Malaysia….
“Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven” (Luke 6:32-37).
Be grateful for you have raised most of your funds for surgeries from Malaysia – it’s still your beloved country, the ground that your feet stand on!
SAHM: Well I don’t have to quote the bible. But even in Malaysia, I have met doctors who are open minded about possibilities and who do not limit themselves and their patients, unlike those I am referring to by this post.
Only fools will never want to tell good from the bad.
Are you judging me as being ungrateful by the way?
Shiau Lee: You will know better thsn I do.
I don’t think you should take Biblical passages out of context. In the original Greek, Luke was actually referring to religious hypocrisy and knocking the fundamentalism of the day. However, most English translations since then have diluted and even distorted the original meaning.
Anyway, let’s keep the religious and the secular separate, if we can. Atheists do not make a habit of entering your churches and trying to force you to embrace evolution, so in the same vein, you shouldn’t impose your religious fundamentalism on a secular discussion.
