Yvonne Foong: Fighting NF

Su Zhen who published an article about my fundraising earlier this month spoke to Tan Sri Lim Ewe Jin who in turn got Lejadi Group of Companies to donate RM3,000.00. Lejadi organized a CSR dinner with Boney M at Sunway Resort Hotel yesterday where a donation box was made available for the public to contribute too.

The MCs introduced my cause, someone auctioned a ticket to Kun Ming, China and donated the RM2,000.00 proceed towards my surgery. When Tan Sri Lim’s driver met us at the ballroom entrance ready to send us home, another guest came to shake my hand and left an envelope containing RM300.00 as she did so.

When Su Zen explained that Boney M is a famous Rock ‘n’ Roll band from the 70s, I asked whether I could bring my parents too. She communicated my request to Tan Sri Lim who said okay and sponsored all three seats of ours that probably worth RM250-RM300 each, Su Zen’s parents were also his invited guests!

I asked whether they could prepare vegetarian dishes for my mom who is a full-time vegan. To our delight, Tan Sri Lim said that there were going to be some vegetarian dishes on the Chinese 10-course dinner menu. Sure enough there were. Mom was pleasantly pleased. Usually, she would be reluctant to attend functions with me because most places could not cater to her diet.

When our tummies were filled, Lead Singer Liz Mitchell of Boney M took the stage, challenging the guests to get on their feet while Rock ‘n’ Roll dancers took the stage with her.

They were right. Music in the old days were a lot more fun than it is today!

Before going on stage to receive the mock cheque, I took leave to the restroom when Kid Chan who was seated at another table came up to my surprise! I told him where I was going so he asked his wife Shirlyn to accompany me. On the way back, we even took some photograohs together.

Team Kid Chan was the designated photographer of this event.

They processed my photographs immediately. I was surprised again when Kid came to our table later to hand me the 4R prints. I guess he must have realized that I like taking pictures, and this was a small gift from Kid and Shirlyn. Because this took place before the team started taking pictures of guests for Lejadi.

I was also pleasantly surprised to meet Poesy Liang who came up at the end.

Thanks to Keisha and Yi Liang for dropping us off at the Hotel too. They chauffeured me to and fro Seksan Gallery yesterday afternoon to raise funds at this month’s Readings session. We had dinner before they sent me back to my home so that I could change into a more suitable skirt and put on a scarf while keeping the pink top on throughout the day.

I didn’t have time to change my make up either. This was Day make up that lasted nine hours! If I had enough time in between, I would change to Evening make up but I didn’t, so thank goodness it still looked good!
