Inspired by X Men going to Africa

People often asked who designed my t-shirt and I would say it’s a friend named James Tan. After five years since the inception of my campaign, James finally told me how did he come up with the name Heart4Hope.

In 2005, I decided to raise funds for surgery to remove an Acoustic Neuroma and obtain the Auditory Brainstem Impant to rehabilitate my hearing. I needed USD58,600 in total. Someone inspired me to design and print t-shirts, and I wanted to raise NF awareness at the same time. James Tan offered to design the t-shirt and said I should have a campaign name. I told James that I want to spread the message of love and hope.

He then remembered a book he read in 1985 as a 14 year old boy and came back with the idea of Heart4Hope.

Guess what book was that?

HEROES FOR HOPE.

It’s a comic book put together by artists and writers to raise funds for famine relief in Africa!

I told James today that Jess and Maddie has the coolest dad!

How many dads out there design board games anyway? Check this out.

I should start answering people who asks that Heart4Hope was inspired by X-Men going to Africa and relish at the reactions.

Err James, why did you name your daughter Maddie?
