Chinese Society of Taylor’s University College Subang Jaya

When I came back from surgery in December 2009, Tiam Loong collected a big bulk of t-shirts and books to help me raise funds at the Taylor’s College new lakeside campus. He is president of the Chinese Society. When we met last year, he mentioned my campaign to Lecturer Foon Lee who is the teacher advisor. Then she happened to surf Tiam Loong’s Facebook page late last year and saw my post on his wall. That led her to my Facebook page and photographs of the Ambigram t-shirts!

During the past month while I was self-absorbed and perplexed over my next surgery, Tiam Loong went missing. I heard nothing from him for weeks until one day, he asked whether he may come by.

I thought he just wanted to catch up. But he brought all the unsold tees and books back, sorting them according to sizes and colors in my living room so that it will be easy for me to keep. He also passed me RM1,800.00 worth of cash in two ang pao packets.

That’s when I learned that the Chinese Society of TCSJ organized an event in conjunction with Chinese New Year. They sold my books and tees for RM20.00 each and some cookies.

After Tiam Loong left, I went on Facebook thinking I should say thanks to Foon Lee. That’s when I saw the photographs she tagged him in, photographs of Tiam Loong recording the sales while students surrounded him. They all bought the Ambigram t-shirt each and wore it. When I saw the photographs, I realized that those times I spent worrying were needless!

By the way, Tiam Loong is full of surprises because he doesn’t talk about what he intends to do. He just do it and tell me later.

A big thank you to everyone who contributed to this event.
