After taking a break from giving talks and lectures for half a year, I am getting back in action this 26th April 2014! From here on, I will be speaking under the banner of my new campaign named WORKS OF GRATITUDE. To understand what WOG is, please read the following seminar overview, and attend the seminar itself to support my efforts!

Yvonne conducting a seminar in a college classroom

Organisation name: Works Of Gratitude
Speaker: Yvonne Foong
Topic: How you can transform your life for the better

Seminar overview

Yvonne Foong is an award-winning advocate for the things she does to make this world better, despite her constant battle with an incurable genetic disorder that causes tumors to grow.

At the tender age of 13, Yvonne began losing her hearing and mobility.

By age 16 when she could barely stand, Yvonne was found to have Neurofibromatosis, which led to a series of brain and spine surgeries to preserve her life.

In the next twelve years since then, Yvonne underwent a total of 15 brain and spine surgeries and still counting. Understanding the nature of her condition, Yvonne decided that she did not want to decline or become a burden to her family. So, at age 19, she created a public fundraising and awareness campaign named Heart4Hope, that she may acquire treatments in the United States of America for better chances of survival.

The Heart4Hope campaign succeeded in moving thousands of people within Malaysia and around the world, who rallied their support and helped Yvonne breach her fundraising targets despite the tight deadlines. Thanks in part to all these people, Yvonne could have her surgeries done in America and maintain her quality of life, including her ability to live fully and independently.

Now at age 28, exactly 10 years since she began fundraising, Yvonne is a grown woman with precious life experiences from her many battles, which will guide her as she embarks onto the next chapter of her life.

No longer just fighting for herself, Yvonne will now fight for others. She has created a new campaign named Works of Gratitude, with which she endeavors to raise RM1million to establish a humanitarian foundation – to assist other people like herself acquire medical treatments.

The past 10 years of running the Heart4Hope campaign has also transformed Yvonne into an effective writer and public speaker, despite not being able to hear her own voice. Her experience as a speaker, in particular, has helped Yvonne understand herself, what others see in her, her societal role and what humanity needs. She became increasingly aware what she could do for humanity with the gift of her voice. This encouraged Yvonne to constantly seek self-improvement as well as intellectual and spiritual growth, so that she may benefit others better through her talks and seminars.

Along the way, many were intrigued by Yvonne’s life and have asked her several common questions.

What made Yvonne so strong and determined? Why is Yvonne helping others despite her own struggles? How does Yvonne live such a full life? How did she raise all those funds?

Do you have more questions? They can be answered at her upcoming seminar on 26th April 2014. If they aren’t, you should ask them during Q & A.
